# Hi, Hi, Thanks for the comments... I'm using [debian](http://www.debian.org) now, but I've been using [ubuntu](http://www.ubuntu.com) for a long time. If this will be your first linux, I strongly recommend ubuntu, which is one of the most user-friendly distributions available today. But 99.9% of the linux software runs exactly the same on any distribution, so actually the choice of a distribution is more a matter of taste than anything else. Anyway, almost all distributions provide a "live CD" that allows you to run the OS entirely from the CD, so you can have a good look without installing anything. You can then install it side-by-side with your previous operating system and discover the linux world at your own pace.
